Judith Hunt, a nursing student at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, recently was awarded a $1,000 first-place scholarship for her entry in an essay contest on BrainTrack.com, a worldwide university and college directory that lists more than 10,000 higher-education institutions in over 190 countries.

Ms. Hunt’s essay offered exceptionally creative and helpful guidance for prospective and current nursing students. Hunt is participating in an accelerated bachelor-level nursing program at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in order to earn her second degree.

In her winning essay, she wrote:

“Nurses are some of the most trusted healthcare professionals and have the greatest mobility in terms of lateral and upward movement, plus an extensive educational path is not required to get started in the field, so I saw pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as a great way to begin my career.”
