RN-BSN Program Information & Questions
March 13, 2007
Question: If you sign up for the 2 year plan for online RN-BSN can you switch to 1 year if you change your mind??
Answer: Yes, if you register for the 1 year plan and decide to change to part-time, you can do so.
Question: How many clinical hours are involved with the program?? I believe I read that there were 2 courses with clinical hours.
Answer: There are two clinical courses; NURS 369 which requires a tutor, and NURS 494 which requires a Preceptor.
Question: Are books that are required for the courses purchased through Carolina??
Answer: Books are available through UNC Health Affairs Book Store, however, can be purchased elsewhere if you wish.
Question: What is the success rate of the 1 year plan vs the 2 year plan. I work full-time but I am determined to get my BSN and work on my MSN??
Answer: I do not have any statistics at this time, however, if you start full-time and need to swtich to part-time you can do so. Generally, a three credit online course will require approximately 6 hours of work each week during the semester. Based on this standard, the one-year plan will likely require about 24 hours per week.
Question: How many chances will we have to visit the campus throughout the program??
Answer: A mandatory Orientation session is required prior to enrollment. If you like, you may attend Orientation prior to the beginning of each semester. Generally, students come to campus for the first Orientation, then again at Graduation!
Question: how many students will be admitted for this option
Answer: Generally, the class size will be limited to 30 students. It depends how many applications are received and whether all prerequisites have been satisfied.
Question: when will the admission notifications come out
Answer: Are you currently an RN?
Question: 24 month applicant
Answer: 24-month notifications for May admission should be sent by April 15th but we are hoping to get them out by the end of March. We will admit 80 students.
