University scholarships & grants
(Require full-time enrollment)
12 credit hours 4.5 graduate credit hours or 3 hours of dissertation/master’s paper/thesis credits
Federal Pell Grants Full-time (12 hours or more), 3/4 time (9-hours), half-time (6 hours), and less than half-time (3 hours).

If less than 12 hours, the grant amount is determined by the number of hours enrolled with 3 hours being the smallest grant and only for the neediest students.

Application Requirements

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Application is available on-line

from public libraries, financial aid offices, and high school guidance offices.
For the prior academic year.
Example: For summer of 2000, complete a FAFSA for the 1999-2000 academic year. Application is available on-line

  PROFILE: Required only for students who do not have an undergraduate degree prior to enrollment in the Nursing Program. Application is available on line at www.collegeboard.org or by calling 1-800-778-6888. UNC summer student aid application:
Must be requested from the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid.

Type of Assistance Available:
Loans only. In the first summer of enrollment, loans reduce the maximum available in the following academic year.

DEADLINE March 1 prior to fall enrollment.
Students should apply by the deadline even if an admission decision has not been made. Students who apply after March 1, regardless of the reason, are not usually considered for scholarship and grant funds.
