Critical Elements of Mother-Baby Assessment

The workshop will provide effective assessment skills for mother-baby nurses in either the hospital or home care setting. Assessment will cover biophysical and psychosocial aspects of care from birth through 3 days for both the postpartum patient and her newborn. Participants will learn what is most important to assess.

At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
• Identify biophysical and psychosocial aspects of care for the patient and her newborn.
• Discuss assessment priorities.
• Describe strategies to expedite assessment.
