The presentation highlights the latest systematic review, meta-analysis and recommendations for best practices related to the assessment and care of postpartum women and their infants. Through lecture and group discussions, participants will sift through the evidence and learn to navigate the literature for additional information and practice updates. Please note: this is not a hands on physical assessment course.

    At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
  • Identify evidence-based biophysical and psychosocial aspects of assessment and care for mother and newborn.
  • Apply knowledge about variations of normal in order to individualize patient care.
  • Identify high risk physical and psychosocial findings that require follow-up.

Audience: Nurses, both novice and experienced, who work in the area of postpartum and/or newborn care.
