This presentation reviews the hormonal changes of perimenopause and menopause, the functions of each of the hormones on a woman?s health, and describes how hormonal fluctuations affect women of this transitional time of life. The program also reviews the elements of an assessment of a midlife woman including pertinent history taking, physical assessment, laboratory tests including hormone level studies, preventive screening measures, and lifestyle issues.
- At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Identify the roles of female sex hormones and their effect on perimenopause/menopause.
- Describe symptoms and signs of perimenopause/menopause and their relationship to changing hormonal status.
- Discuss appropriate history, physical assessment, screening and diagnostic tests important in health of midlife woman.
