A committee of the UNC School of Nursing Alumni Association selects recipients for the annual Distinguished Alumna/Alumnus Award, Carrington Award for Outstanding Community Service, GOLD (Graduate of the Last Decade Award), and Honorary Alumna/us of the Year Award. Distinguished Alumna/Alumnus AwardCommends School of Nursing graduates known for their outstanding service in the area of nursing, either through their scholarly efforts, their promotion of health care or their tireless service to the field of nursing.

Carrington Award for Exceptional Community Service: Presented to an individual who has given remarkable service to the community, state or other beneficiary organizations (though not necessarily through direct nursing activity) and who has reflected favorably on the School of Nursing through this remarkable service.

Honorary Alumna/us Award: Awarded to a professional who possesses distinction in the nursing profession and has demonstrated outstanding support to the School of Nursing. This person is a non-graduate of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing.

Graduate of the Last Decade Award (GOLD): Awarded to the School of Nursing graduate who has graduated within the past ten years and has made outstanding contributions to the School, profession, community or nation.
