Named Doctoral Scholarship to Honor Dean Linda Houk Cronenwett, PhD, RN, FAAN
The Linda Houk Cronenwett Endowed Doctoral Scholarship in Nursing will be used at the discretion of future deans to assist doctoral students with tuition fees and other expenses associated with a PhD in nursing. Because of Linda Cronenwett’s commitment to practice and the need for evidence-based continuous improvement of patient care, priority consideration will be given to students who have practiced nursing and want to pursue knowledge development that will have direct impact on the quality and safety of patient care.
This couldn’t be a more fitting honor for Linda Cronenwett who has taken a national leadership role in promoting quality and safety education for nurses.
Linda Cronenwett cares deeply about the connections between research evidence, nursing practice, and reliable systems for the delivery of high quality patient care. She pioneered the role of a researcher in practice settings, edited the first national publication that shared relevant research findings with practicing nurses, and was an integral part of the inter-professional movement to change health professions education to incorporate quality and safety competencies.
