Dawson BSN ’06, MSN ’14 Receives SON Alumni GOLD Award

Hats off to Gretchen Dawson who was recently named the SON Alumni Association’s 2017 Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD) Award. The GOLD Award recognizes the recent graduate who has made outstanding contributions to the School, profession, community or nation.

Gretchen is a 2006 BSN with Honors and 2014 MSN graduate of Carolina Nursing. She has been an oncology nurse for over 10 years with experience in solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, and stem cell transplant.

In 2014 upon graduation from the Master’s program, Gretchen was chosen as one of three nurse practitioners from across the country to participate in the one-year prestigious Post-Graduate Fellowship in Oncology Nursing at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Gretchen completed the fellowship in August 2015 and is now working to build the cancer survivorship program at Cone Health Cancer Center in Greensboro, NC.
