Oxidative Stress Presentation on July 2nd
On July 2, Dr. Melinda Beck from the School of Public Health conducted a presentation in the BBL to a group of faculty,
graduate students, and staff. The informative talk was an overview of oxidative stress, antioxidants and assays to monitor
oxidant stress.

Stewart Bond has recently completed his PhD after seven years of hard work in the SON. His research involved delirium in older cancer patients and its effects and implications on nursing. (Link to article) He is currently in a post-doctoral position at Vanderbilt University and will continue to collaborate with the BBL in future research. |
Hypoxemia Pilot Study – July 2006

Drs. Pamela J. Rowsey, Barbra W. Carlson, Susan Brunssen, and John R. Carlson conduct a project “A Pilot Study of the Effect of Hypertension and Ambient Room Temperature on the Degree of Brain Injury during Intermittent Hypoxemia in Rats.” This project is part of the Faculty Research Opportunity Grant. Its purpose is to improve the understanding of mechanisms underlying intermittent hypoxemia during sleep and hypertension. |
