Dr. Rumay Alexander Receives NSNA’s Highest Honor

The National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) granted Dr. G. Rumay Alexander, EdD, RN an honorary membership on April 3, 2013 during the opening ceremony of their annual convention, held this year in Charlotte, NC.

The distinction is the highest honor awarded by NSNA and is bestowed on individuals “who have rendered distinguished service or valuable assistance to NSNA.” Dr. Alexander was honored for her service as a trustee on the board of trustees for the Foundation of the NSNA as well as her contributions to NSNA’s publication¬†Imprint.¬†Most importantly, she was recognized for her ten consecutive years of service as a role model and mentor for NSNA members and the organization’s board of directors.

Dr. Alexander is the Director of Multicultural Affairs in the School of Nursing, and she serves in leadership roles in multiple distinguished organizations in addition to the NSNA Foundation, including the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the Professional Examination Service.
