North Carolina Board of Nursing
The North Carolina Board of Nursing is a regulatory agency, comprised of elected nurses, appointed citizens and staff, charged with ensuring safe, effective nursing care for the citizens of North Carolina. The Board is responsible for enforcing the North Carolina Nursing Practice Act. Its primary purposes are to educate and consult, serve as a resource, set standards, promulgate and interpret rules, license and discipline nurses, and develop standards for the evolving legal scope of nursing practice within the State.North Carolina Center for Nursing
The NCCN was established by the North Carolina General Assembly to address issues of supply and demand for nursing, including issues of recruitment, retention, and utilization of nurse manpower resources. The Center provides an ongoing strategy for the allocation of the State's resources directed towards nursing.North Carolina Nursing Association
The NCNA is the professional association for all registered nurses in North Carolina. The organization provides a variety of benefits to members, including publications, discounts, employment opportunities, and networking. NCNA maintains a registered nurse lobbyist in the General Assembly when the legislature is in session, and monitors study committees and other legislative groups between sessions. NCNA is a constituent member of the American Nursing Association, the national association for registered nurses. The purpose of NCSBN is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. NCSBN's programs and services include developing the NCLEX-RN® and NCLEX-PN® examinations, performing policy analysis and promoting uniformity in relationship to the regulation of nursing practice, disseminating data related to the licensure of nurses, conducting research pertinent to NCSBN's purpose, and serving as a forum for information exchange for members.
