CERC: Clinical Education and Resources Center.

The Clinical Education & Resource Center (CERC) is designed to be a nonthreatening learning environment that simulates the clinical setting. Mastery of skills is prerequisite to professional competency. Professional performance of psychomotor skills is not simply mechanical but requires sound judgement, careful planning, critical thinking and decision-making to insure safe and appropriate patient care. CERC is committed to providing evidenced-based practice and state of the art equipment for its learners. It consists of several lab spaces including fundamental, physical assessment, and simulation labs. The CERC has a large inventory of supplies, models, and equipment to facilitate student learning. A sophisticated student and inventory tracking system allows student to use their UNC-ONE CARD to be logged in upon lab completion and to borrow equipment. Additionally, the CERC offers a place where graduate students who work as teaching assistants are mentored into the teaching role, who often fill teaching positions upon graduation.CITES: Center for Instructional Technology and Educational Support.
CITES helps Nursing faculty develop and refine instructional methods. A large part of this work focuses on acclimating faculty to instructional technology tools and software and facilitating their use in instruction. CITES can help faculty with the following: Educational/Presentation Consultation, Incorporating Technology in Teaching, Web Design and Programming, Graphic and Publication Design, Training and Class Orientations, and Research Grant Support and Consultation. Praxis is "thoughtful action"—the kind of action that brings elements of intention, mindfulness and critical thinking into nursing practice. This is distinguished from task oriented "doing." While the latter is an important part of nursing practice, it is not praxis.
