Global Health

International Education:

All students in the Carolina classroom are introduced to global health issues across program levels. In addition, selected undergraduate students may seek opportunities to participate in research to reduce health disparities among underserved and vulnerable populations in the US. Elective opportunities for Study Abroad provide still other students with immersion experiences that broaden and deepen both their understanding of health needs globally and their ability to provide culturally competent nursing care within the US and internationally.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Global Health Committee is to enhance global perspectives in the School of Nursing by:

  • Educating future generations of nurses to be bridges across language and culture;
  • Discovering new knowledge and strategies to improve the health of people globally;
  • Innovating opportunities for faculty, staff and students to strengthen nursing practice and research worldwide;
  • Serving local, national and global communities through cross-cultural partnerships for health.
