Mission Statement of the Task Force on Ethnic Minority
Visiting Scholars
To contribute to the creation of an inclusive community of nursing scholars and learners where mutual respect and valuing of each other prevail
The specific contribution of this group will be a visiting scholars program that involves the recruitment and hosting of underrepresented ethnic minority nursing scholars for one-week periods. The intent of this program is to:
- Promote the exchange of ideas between the scholar and faculty, students, and fellows within the School of Nursing, the larger university and the community.
- Convey a message of commitment to inclusiveness by the SON.
- Establish a positive relationship between the scholars and the SON that could lead to:
- Recruitment of the scholars as faculty members in the future.
- Recommendation of the School to potential students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty who are members of underrepresented ethnic minorities.
- Change the image of the underrepresented minority-as-scholar with
the SON
