Julie Page, RN, MSN.  Ms. Page earned her Bachelor's degree at Illinois Wesleyan University  and her master's degree in Gerontological nursing from Rush University, Chicago, Ill.  She began her career in geriatric rehabilitation and has many years of experience in nursing care of the elderly in acute and long-term care settings.  Her experience also includes staff development instruction and nursing assistant training.  She is currently a Clinical Instructor in the School of Nursing at UNC Chapel Hill, with clinical sites in acute care, long-term care and rehabilitation.  As a guest lecturer, she has taught about arthritis and total joint replacements, acute confusion in the elderly, and nutrition.  She also coordinates the nursing Nutrition course in the undergraduate program.  As project coordinator for the grant, ""Improving Nursing Care of Acutely Ill Elders,"" she is involved in developing continuing education programs to help staff nurses identify best practices in recognizing and treating common acute health problems in the elderly. Her interests include developing effective strategies for teaching Gerontological nursing principles to undergraduate students and staff nurses.
