Tarshe Mack Johnson, MSN, BSN, RN, CNE, earned a MSN (1994) in nursing from the University of Mississippi and a BSN (1992) from Mississippi College. She is also a certified nurse educator through the National League for Nursing. Tarshe has been a registered nurse for over twenty-four years, with sixteen years of her career in nursing education.
Tarshe taught for over fourteen years at Hinds Community College in an associate degree nursing program at all levels of the program from the introductory fundamentals course, through the final transitions course. The knowledge and experience that Tarshe gained as an educator in the associate degree nursing program motivated her to serve as an Inaugural faculty member at Belhaven University, where she helped develop a brand new BSN program in 2014-2015 at Belhaven University, located in her hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. As an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Belhaven University, Tarshe served in the roles of Chair of the Evaluation Committee, Course Coordinator for the Introduction to Professionalism course and Pathophysiology course and as a Clinical Instructor in the Fundamentals of Nursing course and the Maternal and Infant Nursing course. She also taught didactic content in the Global Health Nursing course.
Tarshe joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill faculty in 2015 as the Undergraduate Clinical Site Coordinator. Currently, she teaches full-time in the Adult & Geriatric Health Division. Her passion is teaching and mentoring nursing students to help them achieve their full potential.
Tarshe values the commitment of nursing to the community as seeks to use her expertise to help others. She currently works with the Health & Wellness ministry of her local church and has volunteered over the years in various community events such as health fairs, youth summer camps and other educational events to promote the health of her local community members.

Though Tarshe’s clinical experience is varied, her love is cardiovascular nursing. Her professional clinical experience involves working as a Registered Staff Nurse in cardiovascular surgery, telemetry, med-surg, maternal-infant, rehabilitation, and travel nursing.
Other roles that Tarshe has worked in as a RN include Utilization Review Nurse with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Case Management with Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
