Clinical instructor Rhonda Lanning, RN, MSN, CNM, IBCLC, was selected to receive a $8,000 Ueltschi Service-Learning Course Development Grant.

Lanning says that the funds will be used to create a service-learning course that will prepare health science students to become professional doulas. Doulas provide emotional and physical support to women during labor and birth, and students who participate in the course will be eligible to provide doula care at the UNC Women’s Hospital as part of the UNC Volunteer Doula Service.
