Tom Bush Named One of North Carolina’s Great 100 Nurses

Clinical associate professor Tom Bush, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, FAANP, has been recognized as one of the Great 100 Nurses for 2013. Recipients are chosen for their outstanding professional ability and for the contributions they have made to improving healthcare services in their community.

Mr. Bush is a practicing family nurse practitioner who holds a joint appointment with UNC Orthopaedics. His professional interests include primary care orthopaedics, sports medicine, and educational models for clinical practice. Among his previous honors, he has received the Carolina Cup Award for Outstanding Resident Teaching from the school of medicine and the American Academy Association of Nurse Practitioners State Award for Excellence. He also served as chair of of the North Carolina Nurses Association Council of Nurse practitioners from 2006-2010 and is the immediate past North Carolina state representative to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Joining Mr. Bush on the list are four SON alums. The alums who were honored this year include:

  • Ms. Lisa Boland, BSN ’83, from Cone Health System-Moses H. Cone Hospital
  • Ms. Nicoleta Constantin, BSN ’07, from UNC Health Care
  • Ms. Laura Haynes, BSN ’83, from Nash Health Care Systems
  • Ms. Paige Roberts, BSN ’04, from UNC Health Care
