Become a Preceptor
We value the contributions of time and expertise provided by preceptors in the education of our students. The partnership between nursing school faculty, preceptors, and students is essential for educating the next generation of BSN, MSN, and DNP nurses. Preceptors are a critical member of our teaching team!
Urgent Call for Preceptors for FALL 2020
We need your help! We are seeking clinical preceptors for Fall 2020 for UNC-CH NP students across all program areas — AG-PCNP, FNP (peds and women’s health), PMHNP, and PNP-PC. During the fall semester, students are required to complete 120 hours of clinical practice between August 18 and Dec 4.
Providing clinical learning opportunities for our NP students following the outbreak of COVID-19 has been a challenge. Many of our students are behind on clinical hours due to the suspension of clinical learning this past spring. Our priority is to make sure NP students receive the required number of clinical hours to graduate on time to avoid a bottleneck in the APRN pipeline.
We realize providers are tired and stressed and that agencies have new policies in place for learners to reenter the clinical setting such as PPE use, patient and provider safety, and monitoring for COVID symptoms. We will provide surgical masks for our students and they will follow all School of Nursing and agency guidelines to minimize risk.
- Personal and professional satisfaction in helping to prepare the ‘next generation’ of APRNs
- Allows access to the electronic resources at UNC’s Health Sciences Library (a $3000-$5000 value)
- For NP Preceptors: 30 precepting hours may be applied to the annual 50 hours of CE required by the NCBON
- Per student reimbursement provided through NC Area Health Education Center for qualified sites
Your support of our students and programs is greatly appreciated. If you are able to help or know of someone who may be interested in precepting, please email: Kate Capehart, Clinical Sites Coordinator, email@example.com.Preceptor Interest Form
