Jessica Zegre-Hemsey, PhD, RN, was invited by Dr. Jessica Castner, Editor in Chief, to author a guest editorial in the current issue of Journal of Emergency Nursing (JEN). “Optimizing Patient Outcomes in Emergency Cardiac Care Through Advances in Technology: Nurse Scientists in Action.” discusses several research manuscripts in the current issue about cardiovascular conditions and how innovative technologies have been integrated to improve clinical outcomes. It demonstrates how we can use technologies, including non-invasive cardiac monitoring, to augment nurses’ skills in triage and risk stratification to optimize patient outcomes in individuals suffering from life-threatening cardiovascular conditions across emergency care settings.
