We are excited to announce that the President of the American Nurses Association, and UNC School of Nursing adjunct faculty member, Ernest Grant, PhD, RN, FAAN, will be the commencement speaker for our Spring 2020 Graduation Ceremony on May 7th. Dr. Grant previously served as the outreach coordinator for the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals here in Chapel Hill, and has mentored countless undergraduate and graduate nursing students. He began his term with the ANA in January 2019, where he represents the interests of the nation’s 4 million registered nurses.
In an interview last year with Carolina Nursing Magazine, Dr. Grant made an inspiring request of our students: “I want them to see that they are the future of the profession and that it is important that they not only advocate for themselves as nurses, but also for those that we care for.”
We look forward to hearing his wisdom and advice on commencement day.
