On April 17th, 2020, the Supersonics (a SON student group) were the first nurse practitioner student team in history to compete in iScan2020, an annual ultrasound competition sponsored by the Society for Point of Care Ultrasound. Team members were Cara Nelson, Cheryl Hooks, Matthew Wrench, and Tabitha Spaulding (all MSN class of ‘21). They competed against 32 other teams from physician assistant programs across the US. The accompanying photo is from earlier in the year, as this year was also the first time iScan took place in virtual format using Zoom.

The Supersonics are a Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Interest Group that holds regular professional development events. You can contact pocus@unc.edu for more information.
