Dear Graduate students,

GREAT IPE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU

Please see this announcement of the healthcare case competition sponsored by the Kenan-Flagler Business School. The UNC Healthcare Case Competition is an interdisciplinary event, paring health affairs graduate students with graduate students from the Business School to develop novel solutions to real world problems in a friendly and fun environment. This is a great venue for students to showcase leadership, critical thinking and creativity while networking with other future health care leaders. This year, graduate students from up to six top-tier universities across the United States will be invited to participate – expanding opportunities to network nationally. Top teams win prize money in local and national categories (all on UNC campus).

Last year was the first year of the UNC Healthcare Case and the case was focused around opioid use – all (~75) participants were from UNC. Nursing had a very limited presence and I expect that was because you did not know about the opportunity. This local case competition provides you an easy access to a IPE opportunity that will allow you to learn from, with and about other professionals while working through the process of problem solving key healthcare issues. This experience promises to build your skill set and your resume.

Registration opened October 1 and I strongly encourage you to consider being part of a team. I know that you will provide much needed clinical expertise in these discussions and can assist your team to ROCK the competition.  More importantly you will showcase what nurses can do while gaining valuable experience (and maybe some prize money too).

Please review this slide presentation for more information and link below for details. http://kfbshealthcare.org/case-competition/  Registration closes October 15. You can register as a team or a “free agent.”
