Meg Zomorodi | North Carolina Area Health Education Centers

We advance health through teamwork.

Meg Zomorodi, PhD, RN, CNL, FAAN

North Carolina Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) works to identify opportunities for students to advance and enrich their healthcare education. The organization is particularly focused on improving access to high-quality care in rural areas. NC AHEC works closely with the School of Nursing to improve health not just in Chapel Hill but across the state.

The School of Nursing Assistant Provost for Interprofessional Education and Practice Meg Zomorodi acts as a consultant for AHEC to help place Interprofessional Education teams and find opportunities for students in rural counties. She also works with community partners through the Rural Interprofessional Health Initiative to place teams into primary care sites and Federally Qualified Health Centers to help advance health in at-risk populations.

The NC AHEC Program provides and supports educational activities and services with a focus on primary care in rural communities and those with less access to resources to recruit, train, and retain the workforce needed to create a healthy North Carolina.
