Scaling-Up Integrative Pain Management in Federally-Qualified Health Centers

Project Number: K01AT011578
Principal Investigator: Isabel Roth

Dates: 7/17/2022 -12/31/2026

One in five US adults experience chronic pain, and the prevalence of pain is one factor contributing to the opioid epidemic. To address this challenge, Dr. Isabel Roth is implementing an Integrative Medical Group Visit model that offers non-pharmacological approaches to pain management in Western North Carolina.

In this model, patients receive training in mindfulness, nutrition, and other self-care techniques to manage their chronic pain. These group visits have the potential to help patients manage their pain using strategies that provide as an alternative and/or complement to pharmacological approaches.
