AHEC Award Will Help Implement New Practicum for MSN Students

Dr. Meg Zomorodi, PhD, CNL, RN, received a North Carolina Area Health Education Center (AHEC) award to develop a clinical site. She plans to use the funds to develop a new clinical practicum for the SON’s Health Care Systems master’s students at Piedmont Health Services.

Health care systems graduates will likely be called upon to lead health initiatives in rural and underserved areas, areas that many of the health centers run by Piedmont Health Services are based in. With the grant, Dr. Zomorodi will collaborate with Piedmont to establish preceptors, support student projects, and help develop community health projects.

The SON has a growing partnership with Piedmont Health through a current collaboration at Sylvan Community Health Center.
