On June 5-6, 2018, doctoral students Elizabeth Allen and Celine Marquez traveled with Umphlet Professor Mary H. Palmer to State College PA to visit the First Quality manufacturing plant in Lewistown, PA.
Dr. Palmer and the School of Nursing have an ongoing relationship with First Quality through the First Quality Bladder Health Initiative, which they established here in 2017 in addition to a number of other initiatives the company has funded at the SON, including a graduate nursing scholarship and the 2016 conference Advancing Quality of Life in Vulnerable Populations: The First Quality Care Summit.
The SON delegation was warmly received by First Quality representatives including Clinical Director Michele Mongillo, the plant managers of the adult products division and the infant products division, and Kip Olmstead, Chief Marketing Officer, among others.
The visit included tours of the facilities, as well as robotics and quality improvement processes in action.
