Message from the Dean
Dear SON Community,
After 43 years of dedicated service to the State of North Carolina, Assistant Dean Kathy Moore has announced her retirement, effective July 1, 2023.

Kathy has been an esteemed member of the Carolina Nursing community for over 25 years, having served in various roles before becoming Assistant Dean for Student Affairs in 2013. During her tenure, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the School of Nursing, which is rooted in her deep appreciation for the education and opportunities she received as a former UNC School of Nursing student.
Over the course of her remarkable career at Carolina Nursing, Kathy has worked with six deans, numerous faculty members and over 10,000 students, and has seen the School through times of significant growth, challenge and transformation.
“It has been the greatest honor of my career to serve this School. The opportunity to work with such talented and committed individuals and to contribute to the success of this institution has been life changing.”
