Carolina Nursing is proud to announce that Postdoctoral Fellow Ayomide Bankole, PhD, RN, has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2023/24 UNC/Adobe Grants Program: “Communicating Research with Digital Media.”
This competitive grant program, aimed at enhancing the digital literacy and visual communication capacities of faculty members and postdocs, will provide Dr. Bankole with valuable skills, tools, and resources to effectively communicate her postdoctoral research. The grant will empower her to engage stakeholders across diverse modalities and audiences, thereby promoting improved care for older adults with serious illness and their families.
The UNC / Adobe Grants Program “Communicating Research with Digital Media” is a collaborative initiative between Adobe, the Center for Faculty Excellence, and the University Libraries. This partnership aims to equip faculty and researchers with the ability to leverage digital tools for effective communication in an increasingly digital academic landscape.
The program will grant Dr. Bankole $1,000 in funds, which can be utilized to support the use of Adobe Creative Cloud software and other digital media tools in her research communication efforts. The grant period will span a semester, during which recipients will engage in a series of workshops and activities designed to enhance their proficiency in utilizing Adobe’s digital composition tools.
Dr. Bankole will participate in an introductory session on January 12, where she will be introduced to a variety of digital programs and ideas for integrating Adobe Creative Cloud tools into her research communication process. Over the semester, she will work with expert University Library staff, attend workshops on various topics, and complete a program that culminates in a wrap-up lunch on March 28th.
The goals of the program include fostering digital literacy, multimodal communication, and visual design for effective research communication. Through this initiative, faculty members and postdocs like Dr. Bankole will receive support, training, materials, and compensation to innovate with digital technologies in communicating their research.
