Assistant Professor Beth Black, PhD, RN, received a grant from the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association for her proposal “Reproductive Loss in Lesbian Couples.”
For her study, Dr. Black plans to examine how reproductive losses, such as infertility, miscarriage, and stillbirth, impact lesbian couples. The path to pregnancy often requires lesbian couples to overcome numerous medical, social, and legal challenges, and Dr. Black will determine whether these challenges affect how lesbian couples cope with a reproductive loss.
Wendy Martin, a graduate student in the FNP program, is a co-investigator on the study. Dr. Black also has an ongoing study on end-of-life care that you can read more about by clicking here.
