Assistant Professor Jada Brooks and LeVine Wellness Associate Professor Cheryl Giscombe joined graduate student Rhea Mitchell and SON alum Rachell Davis in presenting a two-part Behavioral Health Session on the social determinants of mental health and anxiety disorders at the 5th Annual Women’s Health Awareness Day.
The event was sponsored by the National Institute of Environmental Health Services, North Carolina Central University and the Durham Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc, a public service organization. The NIEHS Director and the mayor of Durham were in attendance.
Additionally, Dr. Giscombe was invited to participate in a Think Tank sponsored by the Schools of Nursing, Medicine, and Public Health at Johns Hopkins University last month. The topic addressed was the measurement of racial and ethnic discrimination and health.
