The School of Nursing is proud to announce that junior nursing student, Kyndall Estep, has been awarded a scholarship through the Foundation of National Student Nurses’ Association (FNSNA) from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). The scholarships are based on academic achievement, financial need, and involvement in nursing student organizations and community activities related to health care.
Kyndall Estep, President of the North Carolina Association of Nursing Students, is a dedicated and compassionate BSN student with a strong desire to pursue a career in critical care nursing. This scholarship from the AACN recognizes her academic achievements, commitment to patient care, and dedication to the critical care field.
“I am incredibly grateful for the support of the AACN and FNSNA,” said Kyndall Estep. “This scholarship will significantly help me as I pursue my dream of becoming a critical care nurse and eventually a certified nurse anesthetist. I am passionate about providing critical care to patients and being an active member in my nursing school. With the help of this scholarship, I am able to prioritize more of my time towards my studies and engaging with other nursing students. Furthermore, this scholarship will alleviate financial barriers with an advanced degree by offsetting my educational costs. FNSNA’s support of future nurses, including myself, is invaluable. I greatly encourage others to explore FNSNA’s scholarship program.”
Estep looks forwarding to actively participating in clinical rotations in critical care units, gaining valuable experience working with critically ill patients as she progresses through her nursing school experience.
“Kyndall is a truly deserving recipient of the AACN scholarship,” said Nancy Thompson, DNP, MSN-ED, RN-BC, former critical care nurse and assistant professor. “Kyndall possesses a remarkable work ethic, a genuine passion for critical care, and a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. I am confident that she will be a valuable asset to the critical care nursing upon graduation!”
The FNSNA collaborates with various partners, including AACN, to provide over $550,000 in scholarships yearly. Their undergraduate scholarship program is open to all currently enrolled nursing students across the country. It awards scholarship funds based on a set of criteria established by the sponsor of the scholarship. These scholarships typically reflect a specific area of specialization within the nursing profession such as oncology, critical care, or emergency nursing or a certain population of the nursing profession that is often underrepresented. Funding is up to $10,000 per academic year.
