Carolina Nursing Postdoctoral Fellow Natasha Burse, DrPH, MS, has been awarded a UNC Lineberger Developmental Award for her research proposal. The grant will begin in August 2024 and conclude in July 2025.
The study, titled “Examining Preferences for a Health Promotion Program and Factors Influencing the Health and Health Behaviors of African American Breast Cancer Survivors,” addresses critical health disparities faced by Black women with breast cancer. In the United States, Black women experience the worst breast cancer outcomes compared to other racial and ethnic groups. This research seeks to explore health promotion program preferences among African American breast cancer survivors and examine the factors influencing their health and behaviors.
The findings from this study will contribute to the development of a tailored health promotion program designed specifically for Black women diagnosed with breast cancer, aiming to improve their physical activity, well-being, and overall health.
