Carolina Nursing ranks among top ten schools of nursing in the nation

The UNC School of Nursing has once again been recognized as one of the top graduate nursing schools in the nation, according to the 2023–24 Best Graduate School rankings released by U.S. News & World Report.  

The rankings, which are based on a variety of factors including research activity, faculty resources and student selectivity, place the Master of Science in nursing (MSN) program 10th overall. In individual MSN specialties, the School ranked sixth for nursing administration, third for family nurse practitioner, seventh for adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner, and third for psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner. 

“We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the top schools of nursing in the country,” said Valerie Howard, dean of the UNC School of Nursing. “This ranking is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students, and it speaks volumes about our commitment to excellence and our dedication to providing a high-quality educational experience for our students.”  

In the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) category, the UNC School of Nursing ranked 15th overall. In individual DNP specialties, the School ranked 10th for nursing administration, sixth for adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner, fourth for family nurse practitioner, and fourth for psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner.
