When the Carolina Meadows senior living community reached out for volunteers to help administer flu vaccines to more than 800 residents, Carolina Nursing students answered the call.
More than 40 students from the UNC School of Nursing participated in the vaccination clinic, exceeding the number of volunteers originally needed and demonstrating their commitment to community health and service.
The Carolina Meadows team praised the students’ professionalism and enthusiasm, noting how their participation supported residents while offering valuable hands-on experience in community-based care.
“Our nurses and NPs enjoyed their interactions with the students,” said Donna L. Miller, DO, CMD, Chief Medical Officer at Carolina Meadows. “It reminded all of us why we choose medical careers and confirms our commitment to educating our future professionals.”
“Thank you all so very much for spending your day off with us to administer flu vaccines!” said Eileen Ferrell, MSW, Director of Philanthropy at Carolina Meadows.
The experience gave students an opportunity to learn through service while supporting community wellness.
