Funding is available to cover up to one year of tuition for students accepted to SON’s newest education option: the Post-Master’s Certificate in Health Care Systems – Informatics. The deadline to apply for spring 2012 admission is Oct. 15, 2011, and the deadline for fall 2012 is Jan. 10, 2012.
The program is designed for nurses who have earned a graduate degree and wish to prepare for clinical leadership roles in the design, selection, implementation and utilization of information technology (IT) systems in support of improved quality, safety and outcomes of care.
Selected students will receive in-state equivalent tuition awards for up to twelve months (typically two semesters, potentially also one summer semester). Eligible applicants must be admitted to the Post-Master’s Certificate in Health Care Systems- informatics program through the School of Nursing and must hold both a current registered nurse license and a master’s or other advanced degree prior to receiving a financial award.
This funding opportunity is supported by a grant from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). At UNC Chapel Hill, the grant is based in the School of Information and Library Science in partnership with the Schools of Nursing and Public Health.
