The Feeding Flock Team, formed at the University of North Carolina School of Nursing, has been honored with the 2024 Igniting Change Award at the International Pediatric Feeding Disorder Conference held in April.
The Igniting Change Award, presented by Feeding Matters, recognizes exemplary contributions towards the growth and progression of pediatric feeding practices. Comprising Suzanne Thoyre, PhD, RN, FAAN (UNC School of Nursing, Professor), Jinhee Park (Boston College SON PhD graduate), Hayley Estrem (UNC-Wilmington, SON PhD graduate), and Cara McComish (UNC PhD graduate), the Feeding Flock Team embodies a collaborative force dedicated to enhancing education, clinical support, and research initiatives surrounding infant and child feeding challenges.
Feeding Matters, an organization committed to revolutionizing the care system for children with pediatric feeding disorders, lauded the Feeding Flock Team’s pioneering efforts. Established in 2006 by concerned parents, Feeding Matters serves as a unifying platform for families, healthcare professionals, and the broader community to advocate, educate, support, and conduct research on pediatric feeding disorders.
Kathleen Knafl, emeritus professor at the UNC School of Nursing, extended her congratulations, stating, “Wonderful recognition of the Feeding Flock and all you have done for those with feeding problems and their families.”
