Giscombe on Beyonce’s “Lemonade” and Miscarriage in the Washington Post

LeVine Family Professor Cheryl Giscombé shared center stage with no less than Beyoncé this week in the pages of The Washington Post.

Discussing Beyonce’s recently released visual album, “Lemonade,” in which the star addresses her grief over the miscarriage of a child, Giscombe expresses hope that it will open avenues for more women to share their experience of this common but little remarked upon loss.

“Beyoncé has the image of embodying the fullness of a woman,” Woods-Giscombé said. “She’s celebrated. She’s acclaimed. Her sharing her experience with others can allow and facilitate discourse that can lead to more support.”
