Giscombé to serve as chair for NIH

Cheryl Woods Giscombé, PhD, RN, PMHNP-BC, FAAN, FABMR, has been selected to serve as chair of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Study Section: Biobehavioral Mechanisms of Emotion, Stress, and Health Study Section (MESH), Biobehavioral and Behavioral Processes Integrated Review Group (BBBP), Center for Scientific Review (CSR). The appointment, endorsed by NIH Director Lawrence A. Tabak, D.D.S., Ph.D., will be effective from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2025.
Membership represents a major commitment of professional time and energy as well as a unique opportunity to contribute to the national biomedical research effort. Members review applications submitted to NIH, make recommendations on the applications to the appropriate NIH national advisory council or board, and survey the status of research in their fields of science. These functions are of great value to the medical and allied research field.
