Hillman Scholar Harris selected as a BRIDGE scholar at Duke Department of Population Health Sciences

Latesha K. Harris, BSN, RN (’25) received a 100% tuition scholarship to attend the Department of Population Health Science Summer Institute at Duke University. As a BRIDGE (Building Research Inclusion and Diversity in Graduate Education) scholar, Ms. Harris will participate in professional development courses and an opportunity for mentored research with Dr. Mathew Dupre, Associate Professor in Population Health Science and Department of Sociology. Ms. Harris aims to broaden her understanding of the multifactorial pathways that lead to cardiometabolic health outcomes among African American women. The skills she learns from participating in the Duke BRIDGE program will support her training to develop evidence-based approaches to improving population health and how to translate research findings into policy and practice changes.
