Jenerette Named Thorp Faculty Engaged Scholar

Congratulations to Associate Professor Coretta Jenerette, PhD, RN, CNE, who was recently named a member of the sixth class of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Thorp Faculty Engaged Scholars.

The Thorp Faculty Engaged Scholars (FES) program brings together selected faculty from across campus to engage in a two-year experiential, competency-based curriculum designed to advance their engaged scholarship.

Dr. Jenerette will use her time as a FES to expand her commitment to those suffering from sickle cell disease (SCD) by working with community partners in Durham and Wake counties to develop and test a web-based virtual training tool to help individuals living with SCD better communicate with their health-care providers. The goal is for patients to achieve better health-care outcomes, including relief from pain and symptoms.
