Khairat: Implementation and Evaluation of a Telemedicine Program for Specialty Care in North Carolina Correctional Facilities

Dr. Saif Khairat and colleagues from UNC School of Medicine, UNC Health, and NC Department of Public Safety recently published a study of their implementation and evaluation of a telemedicine program in NC correctional facilities. UNC providers (physicians and advanced practice providers) used telemedicine to provided specialty care to incarcerated populations during the pandemic. The study shows that both patients and providers found merit in using telemedicine during the pandemic.
