Congratulations to Lori Byrd, DNP, RN, CRE, Associate Dean for Strategic Partnership, on her recent appointment as Vice Chair of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine (NCIOM) Board of Directors.
The NCIOM is governed by the Board of Directors, which meets on a quarterly basis. The members of the Board of Directors are appointed by the North Carolina Governor, the North Carolina Speaker of the House, and the North Carolina Senate President Pro Tempore.
When asked about the significance of a nurse holding a leadership position in NCIOM, Byrd emphasized NCIOM’s mission, stating, “The NC Institute of Medicine works to identify constructive solutions to statewide health problems to improve efficient and effective delivery of health care for all North Carolina citizens. This mission and purpose closely align to the strategic plan of the UNC School of Nursing. Having nursing as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team that leads the NC IOM effects real change in not only nursing but the greater health care industry.”
More information and the full list of the new members are available in the press release on the NCIOM website.
