Professor Deborah Mayer, PhD, RN, AOCN, FAAN has been invited to serve as a panelist at a Community Oncology event hosted at the White House on Wednesday, January 11.The event, which is part of the White House Making Health Care Better Series and held on behalf of the Cancer Moonshot, will focus on improving innovation and access to quality cancer care in the community health setting.
Panels will explore the unique aspects of community oncology, including cancer disparities, survivorship and support services, advancing clinical trials and innovative models of care delivery in the community setting, and the future of healthcare for people affected by cancer.
In 2016, Dr. Mayer was invited to serve on the Cancer Moonshot’s Blue Ribbon Advisory Panel, which made recommendations for how the Moonshot’s funding should be spent in the effort to “eliminate cancer as we know it.”
Our best wishes go with Deb as she travels next week — we’re thrilled to have her representing the UNCSON and the profession in our nation’s capital.
