Megan Williams Appears on Capital Tonight

On April 30, clinical assistant professor Megan Williams, MSN, RN, FNP, was interviewed on Capital Tonight. Mrs. Williams is also the president of the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA), the leading professional organization for registered nurses in the state. During her appearance, she thanked nurses for their hard work and mentioned that Nurses Week, a time to celebrate the accomplishments of RNs, is coming up May 6-May 12. “I really want the nurses in North Carolina to know that I am very proud to be a nurse, and I am proud to be their colleague,” she said.

She also stressed that the nursing shortage is a problem for North Carolina. As nurses are getting older, many are heading towards retirement. Therefore, the demand for nurses is growing. “One of our concerns is how to educate nurses,” she explained. “We also need more nursing faculty.”

Mrs. Williams spoke about the advocacy of NCNA as well. “The North Carolina Nurses Association supports and encourages legislation to improve the access to care for our citizens and our state and also to utilize nurses at all levels to better prepare and better care for our patients and our citizens,” she said.
