SON Clinical Professor Megan P. Williams, MSN, RN, FNP has been announced by The North Carolina Nurses Association as newly installed President-Elect of the Board of Directors. Williams will preside as President in 2013-2015.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, her masters in nursing from Duke University and is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Williams has over 12 years of experience in adult and pediatric nursing, as a staff nurse, family nurse practitioner and educator.
As a member of the NCNA Triangle Region since 1998, Megan served from 2007-2008 as secretary, 2008-2009 as president-elect and 2009-2011 as president. As a member of NCNA, she has also chaired the NCNA Awards Committee for the last two years. Megan is also currently serving as a board member of the North Carolina League of Nursing.
Nationally, Megan represented NCNA as a delegate to the American Nurses Association in the summer of 2010, where she was elected to serve on the Congress for Nursing Practice and Economics. As faculty advisor for the UNC-CH Association of Nursing Students since 2007, she has mentored many of our emerging nursing leaders.
The North Carolina Nurses Association is the only professional nurses association that represents all registered nurses in the state.
