Nancy Jo Thompson named Faculty of the Year by UNC Hospitals

The UNC School of Nursing is proud to announce that Assistant Professor, Nancy Jo Thompson, DNP, MSN-Ed, RN, has been selected by UNC Hospitals nursing leadership as the 2024 Faculty of the Year.

Thompson, who coordinates undergraduate leadership and transition to practice courses in the UNC School of Nursing, was recognized for exceptional service over the past year. Her commitment to student success extends beyond the classroom, as she also plays a vital role as the UNC SON/UNC Medical Center liaison for the UNC Hospitals New Graduate Residency program, actively contributing to ongoing program planning and evaluation.

Her nominators highlighted Thompson’s “dedication to student success, inspiring both new and developing nurses, making her a true mentor and a positive leader within the UNC Medical Center community.” This dedication is evident in her unwavering support for aspiring nurses, her mentorship, and her leadership within the UNC Medical Center community.

Thompson was formally recognized at the Nursing Staff Recognition Awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024.
