The UNC School of Nursing is proud to announce that Chiao-Hsin Teng, a PhD candidate, has been awarded with the 2023 American Heart Association’s Council on Cardiovascular and Stroke Nursing (CVSN) Educational Fund Travel Grant. Additionally, Ms. Teng has received the 2023 UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing Student Travel Award, further recognizing her commitment to advancing cardiovascular and stroke nursing research.
This grant facilitated Ms. Teng’s participation in the 2023 American Heart Association Scientific Session, a key event in her academic journey. At the conference, she engaged with professionals, including her committee member, Dr. Jia-Rong Wu, and actively contributed to discussions with the CVSN membership committee.
A highlight of Ms. Teng’s experience was attending the Martha N. Hill Early Career Investigator Award Competition. This exposure proved invaluable as she sets her sights on participating in this competition after completing her PhD. Ms. Teng also seized the opportunity to partake in Early Career Day, a strategic move in her emergence as a researcher. This event provided her with vital insights and guidance for a successful career, particularly in her field of improving the quality of life among stroke survivors and their care partners.
Expressing her gratitude, Ms. Teng remarked, “This was my first time attending the AHA Scientific Session, and it was incredible! I am deeply thankful for the travel grants provided by the AHA CVSN and the School of Nursing. These grants enabled me to connect with top researchers from around the world in the areas of stroke and cardiovascular health.”
