Two articles recently published by Leslie Davis and her colleagues
Dr. Leslie Davis‘ article titled “Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Factors Influencing Physical Activity in Arab Americans” examines factors that influence physical activity in Arab Americans, and the article can be viewed here.
Dr. Davis and co-authors Patraporn Bhatarasakoon, an international partner from Thailand; Jindarat Chaiard, an international partner from Thailand; Dr. Elizabeth M. Walters, assistant professor; Jennifer Nance, DNP ’22; and Manisha Mittal, instructional designer, recently published a paper on their successful use of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) to teach evidence-based practice. Suja Davis authors top-cited article on inflammatory bowel disease in Research in Nursing & Health
In their article Telehealth and mobile health interventions in adults with inflammatory bowel disease: A mixed-methods systematic review, Dr. Suja Davis and her colleagues evaluate the efficacy of telehealth and mHealth interventions for self-management and symptom-monitoring in adult patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. The review analyzed 16 quantitative and two qualitative studies and found that telehealth and mHealth interventions can significantly improve patients’ quality of life, medication adherence, disease activity, medication monitoring, disease-related knowledge, and cost savings.
Rachel Hirschey addresses rural disparities in comprehensive cancer control
In their article “Prioritizing rural populations in state comprehensive cancer control plans: a qualitative assessment,” Dr. Rachel Hirschey and colleagues explore rural partner engagement and effective strategies for incorporating a rural focus in comprehensive cancer control plans as required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program. The study’s objective was to help improve rural cancer control efforts by identifying strategies for effective engagement with rural partners. Shawn Kneipp and colleagues publish articles examining philanthropic foundations’ influence on the nursing profession
Dr. Shawn Kneipp and her colleagues have published two articles that explore how philanthropic foundations influence a variety of disciplines, including nursing. Dr. Ashley Leak Bryant and colleagues publish articles examining the experience of caregivers of acute myeloid leukemia patients
Ashley Leak Bryant and colleagues have recently published findings from her R34-funded research focused on the experience of caregivers of older patients with acute myeloid leukemia, and the results are available at the links below:

Jennifer Leeman authored textbook chapter in American Journal of Nursing‘s Community/Public Health Book of the Year
Named the Community/Public Health Book of the Year by the American Journal of Nursing (AJN), Practical Implementation Science: Moving Evidence into Action meets a particularly problematic unmet need for nurses and other students of implementation science: how to support implementation of evidence-based practice (EBP). Dr. Leeman and her fellow chapter authors provide practical solutions for narrowing the research-to-practice gap, with each chapter addressing how to conduct complex tasks involved in EBP planning, execution, and evaluation using implementation science theories, frameworks, models, and tools. Camille Mackler, DNP ’21, assesses gender-affirming sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) care
In the recently published article “Gender-Affirming Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Care: A Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement Project at a Community-Based Rape Crisis Center,” Dr. Mackler shares findings of a study focused on improving care for transgender and non-binary (trans) individuals who experience disproportionately high rates of sexual violence and often face discrimination at rape crisis centers.
